Ok so I am going to ask if there is anyone currently on the board that is into slot cars... I have been into them for some time, but once I rediscovered RC it has kind of fallen to the wayside...
Currently I run a lot of carrera, Fly and scalextrix stuff. I have sold some of it, but do enjoy customizing the carrara stuff.. the last projects I worked on was a group of 4 willys dragsters/hot rods..
2 were done up gasser style, with the appropriate wheel and tire changes to make them appear more period correct.. (small steel wheels as opposed to big 20 in rims...) I also reworked the black lead sled looking one to more of a correct lowriderish custom... and finally the last one that is yet unfinished is a oval track/stock car... .this one has some body mods to it, IE opened up rear window, passenger window opened up into the door for easy access for the driver, removed most of the glass decromed, and correct wheels and tires added.. I still have a long way to go, if anyone is interested in seeing pics let me know and I will post up details and pics...

Here is a pic of the first two I did..
They both started as open engine (no hood) dragster looking cars with big rims and low profile rubber..
I swapped the grills out, and pulled off the big goofy looking wheels and swapped in the Carrera "stock car" wheels and tires, the blue gasser I used the hood off of another in the series of cars and painted it to be a close match to the original blue, I also swapped the "engine" to the one tha fit under the hood..

I will try and take some more pics of the others I did.. as well as add the details of what I did to them..
thanks for looking..

awesome, i used to be into as a kid, my father and i used to race every night.

i am going to get back into it, was planning on getting a track for hayden this christmas.

would like to do a 4 lane, so when canyon gets older, he, hayden, myself and my dad can all run together.

I bought alot of Scalextric track last winter...so much that I need to get a bigger power supply & power at several points around the track. I bought alot of used track on ebay for next to nothing. I only cars I have are the 2 Audi TT cars (that come with the basic Scalextric track) and a Revell (I think) BMW.

Unfortunately, the section of my basement that I had reserved for track got filled with junk that needs sorted eventually. Hopefully, I'll get the track going this winter.

If I was going to build a track at home, I would most likely go with a Carrera set, their track seems to offer he most room for th eguide flags, and they have some great accesories...mostly if I want to shake the dust of off my cars I take em over to Ab Charles to run them on their tracks... but truth be told it has been months since I have touched them at all...
