I've heard of 60/40 set up...this must be 80/20...
Looks good though.
Get that thing up to The Crawl Space...would love to see it.

I would suggest lengthening the upper rear shock mounts to get those rear shocks a bit more upright. As it sits, I doubt that the rear shocks are doing a whole lot.
BTW, I tried quite a few different setups when I first got my AX10. Some worked & some didn't, but I learned alot from every step of it.
Hope to see you at the next comp.

X2 Those rear shocks need stood up alot more to do any good, but on that note your rear axle wont ever walk up towards the front!

ill be down on the 20th, ill bring it with me. and yes the rear shocks dont do much lol. i need to make a new mount for the rear shocks. this was the first crawler i got and i started modding it and then ended up buying a venom creeper and thats what all my time has been going towards :rkn:

i should be working on the creeper today but with no parts yet i cant do much to it :? so i decided to mess with the cliff climber. heres a pic of what i came up with for the shocks. in my opinion its way too tall let me know what you think

Hard to tell in this pic honestly, what is you GC with this setup? Since its MOA you can afford to have higher GC due to weight being down low on the wheels.

gc is almost 3 inches

3 inches is a good start with that style of rig. You can adjust from there when you get it on the rocks to see what suits you and the rig the most.

3" with or without tires?
I'm currently running a 3" center clearance on my Bully tuber. With MOA's as long as you take care where you mount batteries, etc, you can get away with a little more ground clearance.

I did that, too. Until I built my current Bully, I was re-designing between every comp. I learned alot along the way, and now, when I build one, they just seem to work better every time.
Only problem with the constant re-design is that you never really get all that good at crawling because you never really get to learn the limitations of it.

Just make sure you get one ready to comp with first off. Then play with the others with free time.

Those work better than I would have expected.
I'd build a skid plate so that there's a smooth bottom. Otherwise, you're going to catch & get hung up at the belly. Only other thing I'd suggest is internally limiting the shocks a little to get the center height just a hair lower. Hard to tell, though, as it might just be the pictures making it look tall.

told you to use that as a chassis, but your upper and lower links need spaced out.vertically

ya im going to make a skid tomorrow morning. i cant belive it came out as good as it did :confused0068:

the links dont need spaced out. they work good the way they are. the only things that i need to do are make a skid and limit the travel. ( it has 90 degrees articulation)

What about cutting the bottom "ears" off and making it straight across?
Try bolting the lower links where you have the tops bolted up and see if that would work better...then you could just drill new holes for the uppers.
Shoot for 12.5" wheelbase.

i dont know. i probably wont . my friend wants to get into crawling though, so i might let him run it. is there a minimum wb for 2.2??
DRCrawlGood
12-27-2009, 09:05 PM
I dont believe there is a minimum wheelbase for 2.2. Most stretch it out close as they can so going shorter would be a bad idea imo.

i know it would be a bad idea, but its under 12.5" and i dont feel like stretching it again lol
plus i was just going to let my buddy use it at the next comp to get his feet wet , so he can see if he likes crawling or not :crzy:

Take the shocks apart & put some fuel line on the shock shafts (inside the shock, under the piston) to internally limit the shock. This will lower your ride height as well as limit the articulation.
