Vision of the Future with W.Pa.C. and Competitions

W.Pa.C. will always have Supers...That is what got all of us OG involved in the first place.

I do see 1.9's becoming a force to be reckoned with and W.Pa.C. will keep an eye on where it is going.

Newbies...build a 2.2 comp rig. These are the easiest to get started. With the increases RTR and ARTR rigs out there in 2.2, you can have a competitive rig out of the box.

Now, Supers are incredible. The things that we can make them do is amazing. Running Supers makes it harder to find Locations to run.

1.9's are the up and coming. This little monsters open up a lot more options for comp areas...not to mention they are easy to transport.

W.Pa.C. Currently is running Supers and 2.2. I foresee that our Fall/Winter Series will include 1.9's...Just a forecast.

USRCCA, the governing body for RC Rockcrawling, is starting to go back having defined rules. This may stir up more interest. The past couple years, the super has turned into an unlimited class that caused a lot of people to back away from it. Mostly due to not knowing what was going to show up to compete against. You would have stretched 2.2's to 20" WB rigs.

As you wrote this I replied in the thread to the same effect. But, to reiterate...

Locally we will always have supers. Nationally, I am not so sure they will be in the limelight and get the attention they deserve.

Part of the issue here is a lot of the true OG's that really helped to force the ball rolling are just not active anymore. I can rattle a list of names off that were once always on the boards, that now... you never see. This was part of the driving force to keep supers on top! We were nay-sayers to the 2.2s being the next big thing, we forced the supers to actually develop not just slap on another ESC and 20" WB and call it done.

The other part of it is, the RTR and ARTR have signaled a change of guard almost. With the influx of newbies that came about it was going to happen that the guard changed. Heck, I think there are only 2 or 3 people in Rules Committee with lower member numbers than me. Most of these people are used to having things ready to go. Or they come for another side of RC and they just want this to be a plug and play event for them.

Absolutely NOTHING wrong with that, other than the false idea that a Super costs more, and the loss of new supers. Supers, sure there are a couple of kits, but for the most part are built not bought (at first... I know you can get used ones...), which takes time, skill, and a willingness to do this.

Other than some on the older (ie actual age) newbies that came in, most of the younger people have a fascination with must have it now! The instant gratification... that will not happen with a Super unless you get a used one. That turns a lot of people away.

Now, like you said 1.9s with there size can be run anywhere... same with Supers, but supers do take a lot more room to run hard. Once again the size makes a 1.9 seem cheaper to a lot of people so they will build that. Or they were brought into the hobby via the Losi MRC.

As you said there are rules now... but I think the rules for Supers is too little too late, and this was brought on by a few of us in the Rules Committee that will never stop running supers...
