Busted visits Llama land aka Peru

As most of ya'll know I am headed down south... waay south for a week of working in sunny Peru.

Given the pics I have seen from my boss' trip they keep llamas on plant site to mow the grass, and have some... umm.. "interesting" fountains on display. Looks like we are going in a similar political environment as he did, so it'll be interesting to see if we get the armed escort on and off site as he did.

Now flying is interesting, as connections tend to make little to no sense. Such as why would I want to fly into Toronto, Canada before I go to Lima, Peru? Does anyone own a globe or pay attention in geography anymore???

All of that aside, it could be interesting as my formal travel plans stop about 2hours North of where I need to be. Yep, no car down or llama for that matter, and no hotel either Maybe I can find Manuel and his cousin rollin by in an old beat up ford, with some hay bales, chickens and a hog or goat to thumb a ride from.

Oh yeah, its all Spanish there minus the mountain folk. My Spanish consists of things I learned for hanging out with construction workers... not sure if that will be acceptable to use or maybe it will. At least I can order beer

Doubt I will have much access to the internets after Toronto, and maaaybe Lima... but there will be plenty of pics when I get back.

See ya'll on the 8th!

The image that I got of Manuel reminded me of "My Little Mule" from Romancing the Stone Movie.

    Little Pepe...

Busted, you have a safe trip and post up when you can. Look forward to seeing your trip...

Well I am alive as of right now. Waiting the Lima airport for my in country flight. So far so good, very very pretty down here, but driving is.... ummm... well if you have been to Mexico this will make sense, the Mexicans are better drivers!

Nothing like leaving only 1 maaaybe 2 inches between your cab and the other cars or even people!

Haha, but the food is good... humid as all get out down here, though.

Well kids that's it for now. I know we have 6 hours in Lima before coming back to the States on Friday, so I will for sure be on then!

Take care, and I hate all of ya'll who are getting to go play on Wed...I'm jealous, ha ha.

Well here I am, stuck in the Lima airport again. Have to say, the smoking lounge here is primo... leather seats, flat screen tvs... its nice.

Much nicer than the past day has been. Start the day off with Montezuma Jr's Revenge, then the security gaurds at the Truijillo airport deceided for me that I no longer needed $180 USD or my cell phoneOh well that dumbass is going to fins out that my phone doesn't work down here, but those Americano bucks will go a LOOOOONG way down there.

Thank god that was mostly cash advance money, and that I still have my old phone.

Sooo anyways, I digress...as Im still really pissed off at the moment.

After a fun little in country flight, we get to take a 2 hour taxi ride down to Chimbote. Now this sounds boring, and it is kinda, but it was rather interesting. Not much down there to see other than the Pacific ocean to one side and the mountains to the other. By mountains, I mean mountains that make this CO boy miss home

Tons of little villiages, and lots of unique housing too. We also had the privilage of coming with in a car length or two of a head on collision at 65ish MPH. This is due to traffic laws... well... they just don't exist in Peru. I think I have seen about 4 or 5 stoplights total and a grand total of 0 stop signs Makes for some fun taxi rides.

Hotel in Chimbote was pretty slick. Nice, simple, no a/c, minimal hot water, and a slow kitchen staff. But it was nice. Food down here was good... other then Pollo Frito... aka Fried Chicken... this is well, what we called Road Kill chicken when I got it. Take half a chicken and smash is flat... then grill it, and BAM! you got pollo frito. I'm pretty sure that is the crap that has me hurting off and on today.

However, we did have the most amazing steaks I have ever had in my life. Argetinian beef... YUM YUM YUM YUM!!!! Absolutly amazing! I could eat that all day, everyday! Too bad the drive from the hotel to that gaurded, and fenced in resteraunt takes you past the fish meal factory... imagine wet dog food and rotten fish mixed together. Not pleasent.

The mill was, ummm... interesting. OHSA would love them, and they are my new number 1 mill on the list that no one should want to be on.

Not looking forward to coming back to the cold, as it has been 75ish during the day and 65ish at night. Last two nights we had dinner outside. Awesome... and fun!!!

Thats it for now... PM me your numbers if you ever expect me to call again... or I will collect them again on Sunday. See ya'll then!!!!

Just think.. if you didn't have trouble at security, it wouldn't have been a true international trip. Remember, it could always be worse.. you could still be there.

Haha, very true! This is why the passport and Peruvian Immigration Entry/Exit ticket stayed with me at all times...

Guess I should have applied that to more of my chit...
