  • See what rising gas prices forced me to do!

Well, as much as I hated to do it, had to let my big, bad F-150 go.

First came the insults from the dealer. "We'll give you $2700 for it."

I still lost my azz, but we came to a price that I can deal with.

So, now I'll be tunin' with this little thing:

I was so surprised at how well this thing rides and handles! It has 143hp and 5-speed.

It's actually a lot of fun to drive.

A big bonus was the option to switch from 2wd to AWD to locked in 4WD when necessary.

I've driven it 150 miles on a half tank of gas which calculates to 27mpg...and I haven't been thrifty and trying to save gas!

This is not a direction I would have ever seen me going in, but with the g*******s raising prices and me putting on 25,000 miles per year, something had to be done.

If you figure out fuel costs for a year, just using $3.29 per gallon (which is going up) it would cost me $5875 to drive my truck as opposed to the Suzuki costing me $3046.

At least I have something new I can do some mods to!

Don't worry...there will be NO fartcan going on this!

thats a big change from a truck!! Looks fun. The wife and i have been looking for something more economical as well. but with another little one on the way we are having a hard time letting our trailblazer go. she wants some sort of hybrid, but they are so expensive!

Man...I think I can put that in the back of my Avy and never know it was there.

I feel for ya. If I didn't have the Company Car...not sure the 8.1L would be the wife's daily driver. It would be just a tow rig.

      Good Luck with it.

does this mean that you have $2000 to put in a comp rig to come to all the comps...

I see one in your future...

No...that $2000 was the difference needed to pay off my real truck! I'm not going to say it couldn't happen though.

I figured it was either the truck or the Harley and I would have lost a LOT more on the hog!

I think I'm going to have some fun with this little car. It's is actually surprising how much better it is than something like my mom's Cavalier. The ride is fantastic and doesn't feel like a small car typically feels.

          THANK GOD.

Talking about "Saving gas" Hazzzy just bought a 90 Plymouth Acclaim and my dad bought a 96 Chrysler HLS. I want my brothers car now. (Mopar 360 and a rear axle w/slicks)

The car is not big by any means, but the pics do make it seem very small.

It has 16" tires and they look small in the pics so it is probably a little deceiving.

Now, what mods to do first?

I'm thinking a nice sounding Magnaflow!

That is a really big change there. Should pan out for ya hopefully. No where will the dirt bikes go? I just can justify getting rid of the Ford just yet. Would love to save on gas, but I would rather have another car and keep the truck.

Re: See what rising gas prices forced me to do!

My brother has an extended cab Chevy Silverado, 7" lift and brand new BFGs and wheels to put on it...with $1800 of new stuff, I don't think he's getting rid of it soon!

If I'm not going riding with him, then my parents have a Cherokee with 20K on it. It was my Grandfather's and when he died it came to my dad. He basically just uses it to tow my trailer anyways so I'll use it when i have to.

A third option I have is that a hitch is available for the SX4. I wouldn't pull my 8' flat trailer, but we have a small 3 rail bike trailer that is really lite...especially if I only run one rail on it. Shouldn't be a problem.

I did my first fill up from a full tank and only got 9.73 into the tank...holds 11.

I had 243.9 miles on the ODO so I'm getting 25.1 mpg and wasn't really trying to conserve.

                        nice choice.

these damn gas prices are exactly what have me looking into either a 2WD 4 cyl Taco, or frontier....

either one of those gets decent milage, plus, i still have some bit of a bed....

I don't know what all the hype is about...my Avy can go over 500 miles on one tank of gas...

Too bad that tank costs you between $95 and $130 to fill it up. I know they only get around 15mpg average. Working in an oil change shop for 5 years, I knew everyones MPG average.
