  • Out with the 1:1 today.

Glad to see a few fellow members on the trails at Wellsville today. Ran into Joe&Jeep, Hazzy, Razor, and his dad. Sorry I couldn't stay & talk a little longer.

It was a great day of wheeling. I lost a bead on my right rear tire, and ended up running my spare all day...which I forgot to air down, so I ran the right rear at 28psi & the other 3 tires at 8psi!!!

Other than that & a bit of dust...ok, alot of dust... it was a great day to be wheeling!

After we saw you we went down to the creek bed (rock garden). Which you prob came up. My dad riped a hole in his side wall on the drivers front and just a little farther up the trail I pulled the rear driveshaft out of the slip yoke on the t-case, tore the slip york up and couldn't put it back on, had to get winched out from there (about 100 ft up the trail) to dry land and put my dad bent spare on. Other then that had a grat day to. were you guys out there the whole weekend or just today?

Re: Out with the 1:1 today.

We were only out for the one day. I had a lip on my wheel bent from Harlan, KY, and I think that's why it was leaking air. I lost the bead in the rock garden as we were coming up through before we saw you guys.

Were you there the whole weekend?

There was a big event going on at Powerline Park, just outside St. Clairsville, OH. That's probably what you saw traffic heading to/from.

Wellsville, OH is always packed on a Holiday weekend, but no real event. I just took advantage of the opportunity to beat the everloving f**k out of my Jeep.

Ahh no real pics but there were thousands of ppl there on quads, dirt bikes, dune buggy (sand rails), and off-roaders of all kinds from stockers to full out comp buggies. It was an awsome day and from what my dad and brother say it was a great weekend.

                  Two things....

                  First...were are the pics

Second...as much as I hate to jump on the soapbox I will...

Wear your damn seatbelt/harnesses . I got a call last night, I lost a very good friend on Sunday in a freak accident . He was up wheelin in some local dunes in CO, he was prolly the only sober one out there, rolled another friend's Scout over and it landed on top of him. He was pretty much DOA when Flight for Life arrived . He wasn't wearing his belt. His GF who was wearing her belt walked away with only a broken arm.

Not sure how much good it would have done, as sand is very unpredicable and I am a firm believer in when it is your time..its your time. But it couldnt have hurt for him to be strapped in. It wasn't like him to not be strapped in...but this one time was all it took.

Sry to hear that 2 I had mine on all day. I never go out without one on. I broke to early in the day and didn't really do anything after that just hit up some trails.

I'll get some pics of my mangled slip yoke and post up

Re: Out with the 1:1 today.

Unfortunately, we didn't have a camera, so no pics at all.

As for seat belts, no worries here. I have a custom built roll cage with X-bracing and plenty of triangulation. The A & B tube of the cage are connected with bracing running accross from side to side to mount the Corbeau suspension racing seats. On top of that, I have 5-point harnesses which are mounted at all of the proper locations. I am considerably more confident when wheeling since I'm strapped in securely.

Re: Out with the 1:1 today.

Sorry, I never take a cam on wheelin trips, I'd rather wheel than snap pics.

Busted, So sorry to hear about your buddy, seat belts do work, they saved our lives once, just ask Mike (razor) about the roll over in my old Ramcharger.

We drove over a Dodge Stratus at 55mph, barrel rolled onto the roof, Mike, Kari, and I walked away with just a few bruises and sore muscles. The police there were skid marks on his hood (other drivers fault, he was in my lane).
We don't go ANYWHERE without belts on.

Oh and I have had my Cherokee on it's side once and was able to drive out of it.

Re: Out with the 1:1 today.

                              Thanks guys.

I hate to preach, and lord knows I am guilty of not belting up thinking I am only moving 100 foot up the trail...but all it takes is that once.

Bad enough I lost one close friend back in April but now another one...this one is just really hard for me to deal with. He was younger than me, and the group of us that hung out, other than me all went to elementary school on together...I came into the group through some guys I went to school with. We were like brothers....

The last two years have been major roller coasters for me between great high points and some pretty low spots...I'm still wondering if it will ever level out...

stesul411, glad to see you and hazzy made it out of that one ok! That is no joke right there.

As James Dean said..."Dream like you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today"

You never know when its your turn to go...
