  • Woohoo - Almost running

Well after yesterday's ABC meet I came home and did a marathon build on my Wk while watching boxing. Got the Rock lizards mounted on the CR-01 rims and the look pretty good if I do say so. I also picked up a 2 sets of lower links and stretched the wheelbase (thanks to CK for the tip on the links). It comes in at a just a hair over 11.5 now. I also picked up a set of eSavage drive shafts and used the inner side. A note on that though, the eSavage ends don't mate up to the tranny so I had to pop the old WK knuckles off and use those in instead. It's a bit of a tight fit, but i just ran a slightly larger drill bill through the Wk Knuckles and they snapped right on.

For the upper link stretch I raided my old Tamiya stadium truck to find some screws long enough to fit. For spacers I raided my son's lego drawer and found some little sleeves that fit perfectly. The one side started to strip on me, so I added a little CA to the threads. If they ever go I'll have to build some new upper links.

Today I primed and painted the body and still need to add a couple more coats and then throw on some HPI decals.

Took it out tonignt for a quick shakedown run and fried my last servo, so I'm definitely heading out to ABC tomorrow for a Hitec servo.

Once I get the final coat of paint on the body I'll throw up some pics.

Here's some shots. I'm a terrible cameraman. Be gentle, I'm a noob and fragile.

Follow the link for several crappy photos taken by me.

I'd post up directly on here, but I"m new to the Picasa thing for posting photos.

                Re: Woohoo - Almost running

Update -- I can now say, is running. Had a meeting first thing in the am and made a quick run out to ABC and picked up the Hi_tec 645. That thing is awesome. Had it down at my personal rockpile at my father-in-laws just a little bit ago. You can officially say that I'm hooked. After I pick up the wife and son this afternoon, I'm going back down to clean the vines and weeds off the pile and I know what I'm doing for the rest of the night. If I'm not to excited playing like a little kid I'll try to post some action shots.

Quickie paintjob and grill from myold nissan hardbody.

                            Action Shot

                            Another shot--just before the tumble.

So I have a quick question. If I throw my 96t spur in there with the 27 turn stock motor will it help at all or will it just bog out worse?

Oops- and another one - Does the HiTec servo draw more than a standard servo? My run times seem to be shorter then before.

I also made myself a skid plate out of a piece of old metal stud I had. It helps alot.

Yes and no. What are trying for??? Crawling or rockracing? To gain torque you need to go lower on the Pinion.

Yes it will draw more but it still only uses the volts going in. It shouldn't be that noticable.
