  • I need some recommendations for a radio.

I need some recommendations for a radio and receiver. I really only need a 2 channel, but may get a 3 channel incase I want to add a winch or lights someday.

I open to anything between $100-$200.

        Spektrum...

You could probably find a good DX2 (2 channel) for under $100 with RX.

If you are never going to compete...you can find a DX2.0 or DX3.0...

There is one on RCC for sale right now...

I like the new Losi DSM's that come with their new Mini LST's...

        check out ebay

Re: I need some recommendations for a radio.

I got a DX3.0 radio, but I'm having one problem with it. When I reverse, it goes from 0 to 1/4 speed. Going forward, I can make it creep very slowly, but not it reverse, it wants to jump to 1/4 speed. I never had this problem with my old radio. My old radio would reverse just as slowly as it would go forward. Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening.

Also, the radio seems to a 70/30 throttle, I didn't see a way to change that, did I miss something, or can't you change it to a 50/50?

          Thanks

          Steve

I've been messing with it for a while now, and it is clearly starting at 1/3 speed when I reverse. Going forward, I can get it to creep along with the wheels barely moving. It will not go any slower than 1/3 speed in reverse. Even backing off the throttle in reverse, it goes form 1/3 speed to 0. I've moved the exponential up and down, but it does nothing to help.

Has anyone seen this problem before?

Anyone have any ideas on what I should try next?

                Yes.

When I push the trigger forward, the light on the ESC that indicates you are going in reverse, doesn't turn on until I've pressed the throttle forward a ways, as soon as the reverse light on the ESC comes on, the wheels are spinning at 1/3 speed. When I press the throttle to the rear to go forward, the light on the ESC lights up immediately, even before the wheels start moving.

I raised the throttle trim until it starts in reverse, and when it starts, it's going 1/3 speed.

For some reason, the ESC isn't getting a reverse single until the tx is at 1/3 reverse. One would think that indicates a calibration problem, but I've recalibrated the ESC several times.

I'm not sure what to try next.

Where your trims set to zero before you calibrated???

                      Update

I think I have my radio and ESC getting along now.

I called Spektrum and talked to a guy that knew less about the radio than I did, but he did give me good advice, call Castle Creations (My ESC is a mamba). The guy at Castle told me to reset the ESC and radio back to the defaults settings, and change the esc setting one at a time until things were happy.

I think it may have been the brake curve I was using. It worked fine with my old radio, but the DX3 must have not liked it.

I'll test it tomorrow, I hope all goes well. (Knocking on wood)

hehe yeh, its ALWAYS a good idea to reset to stock settings when useing a new radio system, and doin inkremental adjustments from there.. systems reakt differently to different/same things. Just good basik advise
