Yep sure is, sounds like he knows his chit.
A lot of time reading forums, asking questions, and doing my own research tends to leave you with a lot of info . Not sure how useful it all is, but its up there. Being an engineer by school and trade doesnt hurt, just means I spend too much time looking into things

That battery will be plenty then. Not to mention it is at the limit of the cell count a Rooster Crawler can handle being a 2S pack.

Now those saddle packs are technically 2S2P batteries. 2 cells series, 2 parallel. Parallel packs just don't seem to take a nice full charge as well as straight series packs do, but I wouldn't worry too much. Just use a very good quality charger and balancer.

Those packs are 2x 2S 2400mAh packs, with a max Amp rating for 60 Amps discharge.

i am digging the protective case. wonder if that would effect the battery temp though?

Depends on the material, but yes it will cause the battery to run a pinch warmer.

    its a 25C lipo dad....

20C does not stand for 20 cells. 20C means that the battery can discharge at a rate of 20 times the capacity of the battery in amps.

So for the batteries shown at 4800 mAh, that is 4.8 amps. 20 times 4.8 amps is 96 amps peak instanteous discharge rate.
So Busted do you think it will be a good batt for the AX-10

What motor are you running along with what ESC do you have?

Most ESCs, other than the MM and I *think* the sidewinder have a 2S lipo limit.

If you are running a normal 540 motor or a brushless outrunner than you will be fine. If you are running a Cobalt puller, you would be ok with that discharge rate, but it will not be happy at that low of a voltage.

Why not run the MaxAmps saddle pack? Its cheaper and comes in compareable mAh ratings? Now the C rating is lower but you dont need 25C in a crawler unless you are running a puller motor.

20C does not stand for 20 cells. 20C means the battery can discharge at a max rate of 20 times the capacity of the battery in amps safely .

SEE EDIT!!!! So for the batteries shown at 4800 mAh, that is 4.8 amps. 20 times 4.8 amps is 96 amps peak discharge rate. See EDIT!!!!

This is WAY more than a 2.2 with a standard 540 motor or a brushed motor will need in a crawler. A lipo with around 15C is plenty.

EDIT: Those are 2S2P packs for 4800 mAh. This means 2x 2S 2400 mAh packs wired in parallel. Max rate is actually 25*2.4 which is 60 Amps.

NOTE: While most batteries can handle discharging at the max rate it is not recommended that you use this for a continous discharge rate.

While those batteries look very nice, I am not so sure I would drop the coin on only a 2 cell lipo. A 2S lipo ( 2 Cell series wired) is 7.4V and a standard 6 cell sub-c pack is 7.2V. You are only seeing a weight savings, and a more linear discharg of the battery. For someone like you Rockbound it may work as a 2S (2 cell series) lipo battery is within the limits of your ESC. Don't forget to set the lipo cutoff, get a balance and lipo compatible charger.

As most know I am power hungry and in a comp rig will not run anything less than a 25C 3S lipo .
