  • Coles' Scale Transfer Case

I've been working on this for a long time, tooooo long! Ever since I built the "Short Bus Blazer" I wanted a scale transfer case. I'm waiting on a few prototypes back from my machinist so I can test it out. It has a delrin case & uses Axial gears and one shaft. The input and output shafts will be custom made. Not sure if I'll still be able to sell these or not since I was beat me to the punch.

Maybe too late, but here it is:

    LMK, what you guys think

Well I got the cases today! Still waiting on the the shafts so I can start testing.
These things are tiny 1 1/2" wide 7/8" tall. Perfect to tuck in those scale builds.
they have four 3mm mounting holes on the top and bottom.

                Here's a sneak peak:

the guts, minus a few gears!

                mocked up in a chassis

If the testing goes well I'm gonna go ahead w/production. Maybe 50 for the first run! I was thinking of selling these for aroung $60.

                What do you guys think?

Full size cases have names like, Atlas, Stak. So maybe google or wikipedia some variations of the words? I gotta leave for work or I would.

Popular Jeep case is a D300, so how about a D3? or another is NP205, so how about a NP2.5?

                            Nice small and compact.

Will it be $60.00 complete with the gears?

How about CC1.5 (Crawlin Coles 1.5" wide) ??

Awesome to see not one, but three of these things enter the market all at once.

                            Great Job buddy!

Well Atlas was a greek god, how about Hercules. The Coles 1.5 sounds about right.

Matt have you figured the final drive ratio on it yet?

The N.P. in NP205 stands for New Process Gear, which is a joint venture between GM, Chrysler and Daimler and is a registered trade mark so you might want to watch out using it.
